Zachary James
Hohman
Oct 10, 1982 — Jul 7, 2026
Zachary James Hohman, 43, passed away on July 7, 2026, in Syracuse, New York.
Zac was a searcher, drawn to existential thought and the outer edges of philosophy and mind. He earned his doctorate in Evolutionary Psychology from The University of Arizona in Tucson, and spent his life asking why people are the way they are. Zac was a polymath at heart; he could pick up almost any instrument, thrived on the challenge of chess and strategy games, and stood out as an exceptionally intelligent and creative force. On his best days, that sharp intellect was magnetic and would draw people in. Above all, Zac possessed a deep yearning for meaningful connection, wanting nothing more than to love, be loved, and protect his inner circle.
Zac was preceded in death by his father, James Martin Hohman, in 2013. He is survived by his mother, Elaine Lambrinos; his brother, Nate Hohman; and his niece, Selena Hohman. He also leaves behind his devoted partner and his mother's companion, Oz, alongside a circle of deeply valued friends and minds who challenged and inspired him.
In honor of Zac's lifelong search for understanding, the family invites you to gather, share memories of a brilliant mind gone too soon. A celebration of life will be held at a location and date to be determined. Zac's family invites friends and loved ones to share stories, photos, and memories on his Facebook page to preserve the light and magnetism he brought to our lives.
