Obituary

Winifred "Winnie" L. Mocyk, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 1, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on November 6, 1925, in Jordan, New York, Winnie lived a life filled with love and dedication, leaving a lasting imprint on those fortunate enough to know her.

During WWII, Winnie worked for Camillus Cutlery. Then for many years, Winnie worked as a  store clerk at the Red & White grocery store and as a deli and bakery manager for other grocery stores while raising a family.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis where she taught the youth class and sang in the choir.

Winnie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Mocyk, parents George and Vivien (Swimm) Jewell, sister, Marjorie Stephens, and brothers Clifford and Wilson Jewell.

Winnie is survived by her loving children: Joseph (Midge) Mocyk, Jeffrey (Mari) Mocyk, Wendy (Billy) Ray, Gregory (Joan) Mocyk,  and Kevin (Lauria) Mocyk. She also leaves behind her twin brother T. Wesley Jewell, brother Walter Jewell, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In honor of Winnie's remarkable life, calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Monday, April 7 at First Baptist Church of Memphis, 1960 West Genesee Tpk, Elbridge. Funeral Service is 10 AM Tuesday, April 8 at the church. A private burial will take place at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Marcellus, NY.

Winifred L. Mocyk's spirit will forever remain in our hearts, a testament to the love she freely gave and the legacy she leaves behind. She will be missed dearly but remembered with fondness and reverence by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Memphis.
