William A. "Bill" Stoffle, 67, of Memphis, passed away Thursday at home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 18, 1957, in Loweville, NY and grew up in Lewis County. He was a 1974 graduate of South Lewis High School and was captain of his football team.
Billy, as his great-gram called him, was the oldest of his four siblings, Kent, Gretchen, Gregg, and Jeff. They lived on a dairy farm on Smith Rd. with their parents, William and Sandra Stoffle.
He attended Canton College for one year then began working for his dad at the Sylvan Beach Bowling Center, which his parents owned, in Sylvan Beach, where they lived for 30 years. Bill later married Penny Burker and together they lived in Weedsport. In 1978 he started working at Welch Allyn in Skaneateles Falls where he was a man of many jobs, including, machine technician, model maker, and supervisor. He retired in 2008 after 30 years of service.
Bill loved sports and played softball, basketball, and golf. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his kids, nieces, and nephews, riding ATV's, dirt bikes, and snowmobiling.
His favorite teams were the NY Knicks, Buffalo Bills, and the NY Yankees.
Bill was a member of both Word of Life Church in Baldwinsville and of the Men's Fellowship Breakfast at Tassone's Restaurant in Baldwinsville. He also volunteered his time with Teen Adult Challenge.
He is predeceased by his father, William Stoffle; brother, Greg Stoffle; uncles Gail and John; aunt, Reta and other aunts uncles and cousins.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Pamela of Memphis; daughter, Mackenzie Stoffle of Weedsport; son, Shane (Caitlyn) Stoffle of Perinton; grandson, Elliott Stoffle; his mom, Sandra Stoffle of Sylvan Beach; brothers, Kent (Julie) Stoffle of Sylvan Beach and Jeff (Lori ) Stoffle of Durhamville; sister, Gretchen (Roger) Loomis of North Bay; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
There will be a gathering immediately following the funeral service at the Island Escape, 7 Syracuse St., Baldwinsville. Please bring a dish to pass and your own alcoholic beverages. Water and soft drinks will be provided.
