William V. ''Doc'' Long, 75, of Baldwinsville died Monday at Francis House. Born in Baldwinsville, he was a 1944 graduate of Baldwinsville Academy and a 1948 graduate of SUNY Morrisville. He was a regional supervisor for nine years with Service Fire Insurance and retired in 1988 after 24 years as a claims examiner for Allstate Insurance. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville. He officiated at high school and college lacrosse games and was former president of CNY Lacrosse Officials Association. He was a statistician for Syracuse University men's lacrosse and was a member of the Baldwinsville Merchants Golf League. A Navy Seabees veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 113.

Survivors: His wife of 53 years, the former Carolyn E. Bowers; two sons, William M. and Richard D., both of Baldwinsville; a sister, Marion Wheaton of Huddleston, Va.; four grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Church. Burial, Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
