Walter S. McArdell, 81, of Volney, passed away Tuesday, November 14th. Born in Syracuse, Walt spent most of his life in the Central NY area. He will be fondly remembered for his competitive nature. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed playing golf, bowling and watching many televised sports. Walt was a Veteran of the US Army and retired in 2001 from Conrail / CSX after a 36-year career and was an active member of NARVE.

Walt was predeceased by a daughter Tracy and siblings Gale, William, Earl, Beverly, John and Marie.

He is survived by his fiancé Joan White of Volney, daughter Jacquelynn Dumas of Syracuse, son Walt (Candy) of Baldwinsville, son Todd (Dianne) of Cicero, daughter Tammy (Mark) Gower of Greenville, SC, a sister, Margaret Falter of Plainville, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joan's children include Kip White (Becki) and Shelley White (Tom).

There will be no services. Friends and relatives are asked to join in a celebration of Walt's life on December 10th from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the American Legion on Smokey Hollow Road in Baldwinsville.

Walt's family requests that anyone looking to make a monetary donation, do so to the American Heart Association.
