Virginia Anne McManus, 68, of East Syracuse, formerly of Westvale, passed away on Sunday March 26, 2023 after a short illness. Virginia (Ginny) was the daughter of the late Edward and Hannah McManus of Westvale, founding members of Arc of Onondaga.
Ginny was a graduate of Devillo Sloan School in Syracuse. Ginny worked for Monarch Industries before she found her calling in the Bakery Department of Wegmans in Fairmount Fair, including being made the Employee of the Month, from where she retired.
Ginny enjoyed life. She loved all SU sports, the New York Mets, Syracuse Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills and loved attending their games. She loved to travel and visited Hawaii twice, Disney World and spring training in Florida. She was a medal winner in swimming at the Special Olympics, an avid bowler and frequent award winner.
Ginny is survived by her sister Kathleen Gilchrist (Tim) of Brunswick N.Y., her sister in law Sue McManus of Baldwinsville, nephews Edward McManus (Laurie Rossbach) of Madison, Wisconsin, and Patrick McManus (Melanie Ellsworth) of Warren, Maine a grand-niece Meara McManus, a grand-nephew Rowan Stern. In addition to her parents, her brothers Edward and William and her sister Mary Lou predeceased Ginny.
The family would like to thank Colleen Martin and all of the staff at Washburn House for their years of love and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church Baldwinsville. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 3-5 p.m. at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street Baldwinsville, N.Y.
