Velma "Sis" Dinant, 79, of Baldwinsville passed away Thursday, December 20, 2007 at St. Josephs Hospital. She was born in McCartney, PA on September 11, 1928 to the late Frank and Rachael (Richardson) Gillen and has lived in Baldwinsville since 1949. She volunteered and received several awards as a senior companion for 10 years. Mom was preceded in death by our father Clarence "Frenchy" W. Dinant, who passed away Sept. 9, 2006, and siblings, Lilian Beal, Floyd Gillen, Hazel Willey, Marie Dawkins and Irene Washic.

She is survived by her children, Robin Dinant of Baldwinsville, Gregory Dinant of Hastings, and Jacqueline Weaver of Brennan Beach; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn Fowler of Lewistown, PA, Jean (Matthew) Supko of Annapolis, MD, Jeannette (Joe) Gavlak of Houtzdale, PA, Sandra (Andrew) Shedlock of DuBois, PA and brother, James (Shirley) Gillen of Irvona, PA.

Services: 5:00pm Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Spring burial in Riverview Cemetery. Calling hours are 3-5 pm at the funeral home, prior to the service.
