Sharon Lighton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away in her home on August 28th at the age of 75, after a short, but courageous, battle with cancer.

Sharon was the youngest of 6 siblings.  From day one, she was a fighter who never gave up, despite the odds.  She was a two-time cancer survivor, demonstrating a toughness and resilience that defined her life. While her third battle proved to be too much, she fought to the very end with grace and left this world on her own terms.

Her compassionate heart touched the lives of many.  She was always there to lend a helping hand, a kind ear or a place to stay.  Her selflessness and kindness changed the lives of many people that she touched.  Sharon was known for her generosity, be it with her time, her home or a simple gift to let you know that you were in her thoughts.  She was also known for her quick wit, strong opinions, and fierce loyalty to those she cared about.  If you were in her circle, you knew that you were loved and that you were not going to have to go it alone.

Sharon found solace and beauty in the simple things around her.  She loved her pets and to spend her free time working in the yard.  She loved to watch the hummingbirds and butterflies that were attracted to her garden and planted trees and shrubs to memorialize people that had passed.  She deeply believed that everyone has a guardian angel watching over them and there is no doubt that she will be doing so for those that she loved.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Michael Lighton; her children, Peter Ervay (wife Melinda), Jennifer Blanch (husband Patrick), Melissa Svitak; her stepdaughters Melissa Berube, Kristie Rowe (husband Kevin) along with her 13 grandchildren, her 4 great-grandchildren and her many cherished friends.

In accordance with Sharon's wishes, there will be no public funeral. A private ceremony will be held for the family.
