Ruth Lortie Quartz, 94, of Baldwinsville passed away Saturday, August16, 2008. She was born in Theresa, raised in Black River and lived in Baldwinsville the past 60 years. Ruth attended and graduated from the Black River School District. She was married to Geoge B. Quartz March 28, 1936. Ruth was a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Baldwinsville. She was a former teacher's aid at Palmer School, was a former member of Home Bureau and the Belgium-Cold Springs Fire Department Auxillary.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1984 and also by two brothers, Charles Lortie and Paul Lortie.

Survivors: two daughters, Marilyn (A. Vernon) Lapps of Mansfield, PA and Carolyn Gosier of Watertown; a son, William (Beverly) Quartz of Pulaski; a sister, Maude Roberts of Tucson, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services: 2:00pm Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Baldwinsville. Burial in Riverview Cemetery. Calling hours are 1-2pm Tuesday at the church, 2840 Cold Springs Road.
