Ruth G. Fitzmorris, 102, of Baldwinsville, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Ruth was born in Washington, D.C., on February 3, 1922, to parents George E.  and Gladys E. Good. The family then moved to Silver Spring, MD, where Ruth graduated from Montgomery Blair High School. Ruth then studied fashion design at King-Smith in D.C. Although she was so talented that Mainbocher stole one of her designs and later Adrian offered her a job, she instead served as a civilian employee on various Army bases throughout WWII,  including time as a superintendent of a POW camp.

In 1946 Ruth married Stanley R. Fitzmorris, a General Electric engineer, and they moved to Baldwinsville. In 1966, Ruth took a temporary job with the Department of Motor Vehicles to get away from some home remodeling. With the very unexpected death of Stanley in 1967, Ruth accepted a permanent position,  and retired as a senior clerk in 1983.

Ruth was involved in many heritage organizations including Holland Dames and Dutch Settlers.  She also was a major opera lover and world traveler.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Stanley, and is survived by her fabulous daughter E. Lynne Fitzmorris of Baldwinsville, and a myriad of friends and admirers.

Visitation will be Monday July, 29, 2024, at 11 am, followed by a brief service at noon at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
