Ross J. Howard, 78, of Syracuse died Friday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Mooers, he was a life resident of the Syracuse area. He worked 33 years at Crucible Specialty Metals Division of the Crucible Materials Corp. and previously worked at Woodland Specialties. His wife, Hilda G., died in 1984; a daughter, Betsy, died in 1969.

Survivors: Two daughters, Susan J. Howard and Bonnie L. Howard, both of Syracuse; two sons, David R. of Fremont, Calif. and John T. of Syracuse; four sisters, Dorothy Westfall of Syracuse, Hazel Lewis of Phoenix, Marion Poissant of Spring, Texas, and Elizabeth Meachum of Oneida; three grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Falardeau Funeral Home. Burial, Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
