Ronald E. Patchett, 89, of Baldwinsville, passed away Monday. Ron was born in Syracuse, NY, to Allen and Ruth Patchett on April 13, 1937. Shortly thereafter his family including twin brother Dick, and older brother, Charlie, moved to a farm near Baldwinsville where happy memories were made daily in his youth.

He went to a one-room school house and later was salutatorian (Class of 1953) of the last graduating class at Baldwinsville Academy. He earned a full tuition scholarship to Syracuse University where he graduated in the class of 1957.

There after he joined the Marine Corps. for three years of service to his country, achieving the rank of second lieutenant in the reserves.

Ron then became an English teacher at North Syracuse High School and later at Baker High School in Baldwinsville where he retired in 1991.

For several years he also worked as a New York State Trooper which later provided him law enforcement job opportunities during school summer vacations and weekends. He especially liked working in the Baldwinsville and Clay police departments, the Oncenter, the county parks and the Town of Lysander judicial and zoning departments.

Through the years he made many like-long friends. So , along with his special family of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, the word "family" was a truly meaningful word for some friends, too.

Ron is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Nancy; sons, Randy (Christine), and Rhett; sister-in-law, Joan; and nephews, Eric, Dave, and Dean.
