Ronald Francis
Duprey
Aug 9, 1943 — Sep 8, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald "Ron" Francis Duprey of Phoenix, New York. Ron passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 83.
He was born on August 9, 1943, in Saranac Lake, New York, to the late Clarence Sr. and Mary Duprey. Ron was a graduate of Saranac Lake Central High School.
Ron was a commercial roofer throughout his career, working both union and non-union jobs. His work took him throughout New York State and to places including Florida, Texas, Washington, D.C., and many other locations.
The outdoors was always an important part of Ron's life. He had a lifelong passion for hunting, trapping, fishing, and ice fishing. His children, nieces, and nephews will fondly remember fishing trips in the Adirondacks and on Lake Ontario, as well as time spent with him in the woods. Whether he was in the mountains, on the water, or out on the ice, he was happiest outdoors.
Ron also loved racing. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the local dirt tracks or traveling to a NASCAR race out of state.
He was always known to wear his cowboy boots, whether they were snakeskin or crocodile, he wore them proudly. He enjoyed country music and loved his cowboy hats and leather jacket.
Those who knew Ron will remember his sense of humor. He was quick with a joke and loved telling a funny story.
Ron was a survivor. He battled and beat Stage IV throat cancer and gave a fierce fight. He was able to live another 10 years and spend time with family and friends. Ron was deeply thankful to the doctors and nurses who helped save his life and for giving him more time with loved ones. He was incredibly grateful to his brothers, Dennis "Spider" and Ollie, and his sister-in-law, Kelly, for the support they gave him during that time.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Melissa Duprey, and his son, Ronald Duprey II (Gina). In addition, he is survived by his daughter, Dawn Duprey, and his son, Dwayne Duprey.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia, and Giada Duprey, who brought him great joy and with whom he treasured the time he was able to spend. They were the light of his life.
Ron is further survived by his brothers, Anthony and Oliver (Marianne), and his favorite sister, Sally Ann Duprey, sisters-in-law, Kelly (Morgan) Duprey, and Margaret "DeeDee" Duprey, as well as grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brothers, Clarence Jr., Gary (Phyllis), and Dennis "Spider" Duprey, and sister-in-law, Mary Lynne Duprey.
No public services will be held. The family will gather privately at a later date to remember and honor Ron's life.
