The Rev. Roger A. Pohl, 94 years old, of Baldwinsville NY died on January 29, 2023.

The son of Clara (Braun) Pohl and George J. Pohl, he was born April 26, 1928 in Buffalo NY . He attended Kensington High School, graduated from the University of Buffalo and Mc Cormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lynn Mason Pohl, and children Kara Lynn Ammon, Beth Soeder, Dr. Michael Soeder, and grandchildren; Duke, Jamie and Kara Jean Ammon, Emily Soeder Messmer (Clayton Messmer), and Mason Soeder.

Ordained a Minister of the Word by the Presbytery of Buffalo-Niagara, he served and developed churches including: The Presbyterian Church of Casper, WY; the Sunrise Presbyterian Church of Great Falls, MT; and the Presbyterian Church of West Caldwell, NJ. Finally, he was called as the senior pastor by the First Presbyterian Church of Baldwinsville, NY where he served for 24 years in a church blessed with highly gifted and energetic lay leadership and a comprehensive ministry to both the local community and beyond. Upon his retirement in 1992, Reverend Pohl was designated as Pastor Emeritus. Active in community affairs, Reverend Pohl was a member of The Board of Directors of the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center and the Board of Directors of the Syracuse Home Association. He was an organizing member of the Baldwinsville United Way. He served on a number of committees for the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce and Charles Baker High School. He was a member and moderator of the Baldwinsville Ministerial Association.

He loved his family and his home. He enjoyed doing needed repairs around the house. He was a hero to his daughters because he could mend anything for them. His grandchildren were the world to him, and he was the greatest "Poppy" to them. He enjoyed traveling both near and far with Lynn as his companion. He enjoyed the camaraderie of good friends, quiet times at home, his cats, and pinochle dinner nights with family.

Calling hours with be at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville NY on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 4 -7 pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, at 10 am at The First Presbyterian Church Baldwinsville, NY.
