IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert F.
Volk
March 30, 1955 – April 24, 2025
Robert Francis Volk was born a singer. From his toddler days to his last day, he was happiest when singing. His songs and music were silenced by a catastrophic stroke April 23, 2025 and he passed peacefully April 24 in the company of his wife, family and friends.
Bob was born in Auburn, N.Y., March 30, 1955 to Franklin Robert and Marion (Brooks) Volk both of whom have predeceased him. His formative years were in Johnson City, N.Y. He sang in the select choir while attending Johnson City High School and traveled to Wales to compete in the Esisteddfod International Music Festival. Bob attended SUNY Binghamton earning a bachelors degree in drama. After graduation he preformed with The Summer Savoyards and the Civic Theater at Roberson Center in Binghamton. By the mid 1980s, Bob had relocated to Onondaga County and began a 35+ year career at Lockheed Martin. Throughout all those years, in both counties, Bob sang and played in bands, duos and combos; as a vocalist, rhythm guitarist and bassist.
Bob is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Cifonelli) Volk; his brother, Roger (Vanessa) Volk; brother, Martin Volk; several, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
