Obituary

Robert L. MacConaghy, 81, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at his home. He was born in Rumford, Maine and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving on the U.S.S. Providence. He retired in 1983 from Solvay Post Office after 30 years and worked for Marine Midland Bank from 1983-1992. He was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church, a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, a member of the Pennock VFW Post #2893 in Solvay and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5082. He was pre-deceased by his son Robert J. in 2003.

Survivors: his wife of 58 years, Joan L.; a daughter, Gail (Frank) Battaglia of Liverpool; his daughter-in-law, Donna P. MacConaghy of Baldwinsville; three sons, Tim (JoAnne) of Camillus, Gary W. (Dee) of Syracuse and Mark L. (Melissa) of Baldwinsville; three sisters, Viola Whytock of Mexico, ME, Joan Pittman of Meriden, CT, and Nancy Ellis of Jay, ME; ; and 13 grandchildren.

Services: 10:00am Saturday, July 18, 2009 at St. Augustine's Church, 7333 O'Brien Road, Baldwinsville. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
