Robert N. Coates, 88, of Baldwinsville died Tuesday at Syracuse Home. He was born in Connorsville, IN and lived in Baldwinsville since 1919. Bob retired in 1975 from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. after 30 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of WW II. He was a member of VFW Post # 153 and a former member of the LOOM Lodge #644. An avid baseball fan, Bob coached a Little League team in Liverpool at one time. He was predeceased by two sons, Robert and Steven Coates.

Survivors: his wife of 64 years, the former Alice E. Montague; a daughter, Barbara J. Coates of Baldwinsville; a son, John C. (Donna) of Oswego; a brother, John "Yippie" of Baldwinsville; three grandchildren, Vanessa Coates, Serena Coates, and Heather Bell; a great-granddaughter, Meghan Alice Bell; several nieces and nephews.

Services: 10:00am Saturday June 2, 2007 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville. Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4-7pm Friday June 1, 2007 at the funeral home, 93 Downer St.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, may be made to the family to be distributed to the Fork Union Military Academy in memory of his brother, Donald Coates and the Female Charitable Society.
