Robert Lehman Allen, 86, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 18, 2020. Bob grew up on the southside of Syracuse and was the oldest of 7 children. He would often fondly tell stories of his childhood "running the streets of Syracuse". Bob's family moved to Baldwinsville when he was 13 where he resided the remainder of his life. As a young man, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Bob was a self-employed contractor who, with his wife Shirley, successfully built Bob Allen Contracting from "scratch". He absolutely loved playing poker, raising chickens, fishing, woodworking, and building almost anything imaginable in his workshop. However, his greatest enjoyment in later years was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert is predeceased by his wife of 62 years Shirley, son Robert H.C. Allen, parents; Henry and Blanche (Tolhurst) Allen, and brother Richard. Surviving Robert are his sons; Timothy Allen, Russell (Anne) Allen, daughter; Bonnie Allen (George Huther), brother; Eugene Allen, sisters; Carole Abbott, Cheryl Segar, Linda Jones, Denise Hubbs, grandchildren; Kristopher and Patrick Staub, Kaitlyn (Nick) Coirazza, Sarah (Will) Getman, Heidi Allen, great grandchildren; Phynox and Emma.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Kingdom Road Cemetery.
