December 19, 1935 – December 21, 2016
Richard C. Vrotny age 81 of Baldwinsville died after a long courageous battle with kidney and liver disease on December 21, 2016. Rich is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 34 years, Dianne (Warner) Vrotny, his daughters Debi Natale, Karen Durnell, Terri Starczewski all of Florida, a son Douglas of Syracuse, and step children that he called his own, Lorie (Richard) Schneider of Phoenix, NY and Joe (Brad) Lawson of Orlando, FL, a brother Don (Betty) Vrotny of Ohio, and five grandsons, Kevin Schneider of Phoenix, NY, Michael Szczesniak, Cole Wengert, Cody Wengert, and Logan Starczewski all of Florida, also survived by long time friends, Grant & Ginger Thompson of Stirling, Ontario Canada. He is preceded in death by his parents John & Edna Vrotny of Pennsylvania, a brother Jack Vronty of Oregon, and two grandsons, Mark Szczesniak of Florida and Kyle Schneider of Phoenix, NY.
Rich was born on December, 19th 1935 in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. He started his career at the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation at the Brackinridge Plant in PA, subsequently transferred to the Special Medals Corporation office in New Hartfort, NY. His second career was sales manager for Gaffney and Northland Communications for 26 years until retiring in 2006.
Rich was a great provider, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, NY where he played with a group called The Clowns for 38 years. In his lifetime of golfing he made two holes in one; one at Cedar Lake Country Club in Cedar Lake, NY and the second at Seneca Golf Club in Baldwinsville. Rich loved the outdoors, including snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing.
Rich was blessed to be able to spend his final days at The Francis House in Syracuse, NY, a special thanks to all of their staff and volunteers.
Calling hours are Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. Services to follow at 7 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cpl. Kyle R. Schneider Foundation, in memory of his grandson who was killed in action in Afghanistan, P.O. Box 8, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
