Obituary

May 7, 2015 Richard (Dick) W. Bowes, Baldwinsville, NY "earned his wings" in Crouse Hospital after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born in Crouse Hospital on June 6, 1934 and except for a bedside vigil for a son's life changing illness has never been in the hospital again until now.

Dick attended Solvay High School and LeMoyne College. He held various jobs over the years but especially enjoyed working at Oswego Industries in Fulton, NY working with adults with disabilities. He and his wife were very much involved in their church and finding ways to minister to others. He was a Warden, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Reader and Church Photographer. He loved nature and wedding photography. Dick enjoyed fishing and tent camping in the Adirondacks for many years, eventually "moving up" to a 28 ft. 1986 Allegro motor home. He and his wife spent many summer days at Sampson State Park on Seneca Lake. Dick was excited and proud to wear his Black Stewart kilt (Tartan), being involved in the St. Andrew's Society of CNY, attending the CNY Scottish Games every year, manning the tent, sharing history and stories with fellow Scotsman. Imagine his surprise when he very recently learned he was actually of Irish heritage. His response? "I am still going to wear my kilt."

Dick is predeceased by his parents, Bill and Gertrude, his brother Bob, brother-in-law Ron Jones.
Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane (Murray), three sons, Andy (Nan), Baldwinsville Jamie (Barbara), Baldwinsville, Scott (Lisa), Geneva, NY; five grandchildren Shannon (Dan) Cath, Mountainview, CA, Adrian, Schenectady, NY, Nate, Madelyn, Kathryn, Geneva and one great grandson Shane, Mountainview, CA., sister Patricia Jones, Ruskin, FL., sister-in-law Janet Theron, Parrish, FL, various nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held May 16, 2015 at Grace Episcopal Church, Baldwinsville at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Church. There will be calling hours at Grace Church Friday, May 15, 5 to 8 p.m. Ashes will be buried in the Church Memorial Garden. Donations may be given to Grace Episcopal Church, Baldwinsville
