Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Cappello, 90, of Lakeland, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026 after a two year battle with cancer.

Born in Syracuse, he retired from Niagara Mohawk after 23 years, and was previously employed with General Electric 25+ years.

He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gambling, bowling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed Sunday dinners and playing croquet with the family.

Ray was a former member of the Warners Fire Department for over 30 years, and took pleasure in marching in parades with the fire department.

He is predeceased by three brothers, Alfred "Cappy", Jimmy and Tony Cappello.

He is survived by his wife Dorene of 68 years; his three daughters, Coleen (Bob) Apps of Camillus, Angie (Jamie) White of Phoenix, and Toni (Jeff) Burdick of Syracuse; sister, Delores Herron of Las Vegas; five granddaughters, Brittany Apps, Deanna (Brian) Fielder, Kerri (Josh Robbins) White, Danielle (Ricky) Haist, and Jillian (Leon) Monica; and great-grandsons Landon and Jaxon Haist; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
