James "Jim" Bishop, 83, of Pennellville, entered the presence of his Savior in heaven on Thursday, October 1. Born in Syracuse, he was a 1962 graduate of Phoenix Central High School.

Jim was a life long member of the First Baptist Church in Phoenix and dairy farmer. He shared the farm responsibilities with his father Victor and brother, Daryl.

He was involved in several agricultural endeavors to include Farm Bureau where he served as president of Oswego County Farm Bureau for three years. Jim enjoyed watching most sports, and spending time with his family.

His favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 3: 5, 6.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn; brother-in-law, Jim Cushman; and sister-in-law, Brenda Bishop.

Surviving are his wife, Lou Ann; sons, Jason (Heidi) Bishop and Aaron (Lisa) Bishop; seven grandchildren, Luke, Meredith, Gwendolyn, Elise, Evan, Aaden, and Austin; sister, Beulah Cushman; brothers, Richard (Carol) Bishop, Gary Bishop, and Daryl (Pam) Bishop.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Phoenix. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, 16 County Route 57A, Phoenix. Burial will be in Pennellville Cemetery.
