Peter Clayton Cole, 78, of Baldwinsville, N.Y. passed away peacefully on March 26, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Peter was born on February 4th, 1938 in Ogdensburg, the son of the late John Sr. and Catherine (Robinson) Cole. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy, graduating in 1956, and was married on September 20, 1958 to Linda (Downey) Cole for 57 wonderful years. Peter is survived by his wife Linda (Downey) Cole and five children, Peter (Mike) Cole and wife Melanie of Ogdensburg, Russ Cole and his wife Von of Baldwinsville, Randy Cole and his wife Ann of Webster, Warren Cole and his wife Stephanie of Belleville, IL and Kelly Cole-Russell and her fiancé' Kevin Rockwell of Elmira. Peter leaves eleven grandchildren, Casey, Alex, Peter, Chelsey, Sean, Elizabeth, Brody, Kayla, Zach, Kyle, Chad and one great grandchild, Isabella. Peter is also survived by his three sisters, Dawn McDonald of Ogdensburg, Mary and David Cassort of Louisville, Jane and John Jackson of Calgary, Alberta, and brother James and Heather Cole of Seneca Falls, along with several nieces and nephews.
Peter is predeceased by four brothers, Kenneth, Dustin, John Jr. (Jack) and Jay Cole and two sisters, Carolee Leone and Janet Erwin.
Peter retired from over 45 years in the grocery business, managing store locations for P&C, Great American and Big M located in several different areas of upstate N.Y. Peter was extremely active in his community, working many years with his family on the Seaway Festival, and served several years as Ogdensburg City School District Board of Education President. Peter also coached high school wrestling at St. Mary's Academy, along with officiating high school wrestling. He also coached minor league football in both Ogdensburg and Potsdam. Peter was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed both bowling and golf, and was an active player in Maple City Softball.
Calling hours will be from 4 – 7 pm on Wednesday, March 30 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville, NY with a funeral service to follow at 7pm.
