Paul T. Weiss, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Paul was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Joseph Wisiorek. He graduated from West Seneca High School in 1961 and also attended the University of Buffalo. Paul married his high school sweetheart Georgia (nee Petri) and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 13, 1914.
The family moved to Baldwinsville, New York in 1968, where Paul held various sales positions. In 1974 Paul became an agent for Nationwide Insurance Company. He successfully owned and operated the Paul T. Weiss Insurance Agency for 39 years. After retiring, Paul and Georgia moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in November 2013.
Paul was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church in Baldwinsville. He served on Parish Council, the Finance Committee and chaired various fund-raising efforts including the Bishops annual Hope Appeal. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5082.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Georgia; his two children and their families. Son, David (Jennifer) Weiss of Raleigh, North Carolina, daughter, Caryn (Davis) Schrader of Baldwinsville, New York, and two granddaughters, Loren Sophia Weiss and Hannah Elizabeth Weiss of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Paul is also survived by his sister, Judith (Robert) Koch of Blassdell, New York, niece, Erin (Jerry) Vogel of Rochester, New York and nephews, Phillip Koch of Hamburg, New York, Jeffrey (Stacy) Petri of Cortland, New York, Joseph (Jeanenne) Petri of Buffalo, New York and several cousins.
Calling hours are 5-7 pm Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street, Baldwinsville, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, May 22, 2014, at St. Mary's Church, 47 Syracuse Street, Baldwinsville, New York. Rite of Committal and burial to follow at Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, Baldwinsville, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bishops Hope Appeal, 240 E. Onondaga Street, Syracuse, New York 13202 or the Syracuse Rescue Mission, 120 Gifford Street, Syracuse, New York 13202.
