Nora B. Pickett, beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born on June 5, 1932, in Bunnacranna, County Sligo, Ireland, to her parents, James and Catherine (Maye) Brett. Nora carried with her the strength, warmth, and proud spirit of her Irish heritage throughout her life. Her roots shaped her resilience, her deep devotion to family, and the quiet grace with which she lived each day.
Upon immigrating from Ireland, Nora held many positions at Western Union in Auburn and Fulton, NY and became a proud US citizen. She was immensely happy to be able to help some of her sisters in Ireland to immigrate to America as well. She later met her beloved husband, Paul Pickett whom she was married to for 62 years, and they made their home in Baldwinsville, New York, where she raised her family and built a life centered on love, faith, and family. Her special place at home was in the kitchen where she loved to cook and host family meals and celebrations. She enjoyed following the New York Yankees and was able to attend many of their games over her lifetime. She loved gardening, her flowers, birdwatching, and spending time with her Home Bureau ladies group doing many arts and crafts projects and spending time with friends. She loved returning to her Irish homeland to visit her parents and family with her husband and children
She was a proud and caring mother to her sons, Kevin, Jim, and Sean. She had great joy in her role as grandmother to Dennis and Brett, who brought her immense pride and happiness. She treasured time spent with her family and found joy and meaning in the simple, everyday moments of life. She was known for putting everyone else before herself. She was a woman of great Catholic faith and devoted communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
Nora was pre-deceased by her brothers, James, Michael Augustine, and PJ Brett; her sisters, Maura Cullen and Ursula Brett; sister-in-law Mary Brett; brother-in-law John (Jack) Cullen; and niece Anna Brett. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul; her sons, Kevin, Jim, and Sean; her grandsons, Dennis and Brett; her sister Bernadette Brett; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who were blessed to know her.
Nora will be remembered for her kind heart, steady presence, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her life was a testament to love, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and enduring love that will continue with her family that she leaves behind.
Calling hours will be held from 4pm to 6pm on Monday, February 23rd for friends and family at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. Her funeral mass will be celebrated by her nephew, Rev. John Cullen, on Tuesday February 24th at 11:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 NY-31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. There will be a spring burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fulton, NY.
