IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nini Victoria
Mullin
March 26, 1922 – November 16, 2014
Nini Victoria Cevallos Mullin, age 92 died peacefully on Sunday November 16th 2014. A proud Salvadoran, Nini came to Staten Island, New York as a teenage student at the then Notre Dame Academy for Women. Prior to that she had attended schools in El Salvador, England and France. While in college she met a dashing young Irishman, then a Lt. in the U. S. Army, William Patrick Mullin. They married and raised three children in the Staten Island family home where Nini lived until five years ago when she moved to the Baldwinsville area to be near her son Patrick and his family. Nini loved both her country and the U.S.A. where she was a permanent resident until 9/11/01, after which she promptly became a proud U.S. citizen. Suffering from progressive nerve deafness of the ear, Nini was totally deaf by age 50 at which point she decided to return to college. After graduating from Wagner College with high honors, she then entered N.Y.U. and received an M.A. in Vocational Rehabilitation. In later years she and Bill traveled the world spending months in the Aran Islands, Italy, Turkey , France, Ireland proper and other countries.
Nini is, as she believed via her unorthodox Catholic faith, now on "The next planet" where she fully expects reuniting with Bill and her son, John Manuel, both of whom predeceased her. She surely was unique: very tough minded, stubborn, intelligent, inquisitive and extremely generous to the less fortunate, politically conservative and socially liberal, a voracious reader and a true lover of the Arts. She will be missed by many, especially her family: Son W. Patrick (Linda) Mullin; grandson Sean A. (Heather) and their children Jessica and Katie; granddaughter Danielle (Paul) Schultz and their children Nicholas, Victoria, Julia, and Patrick, all of Baldwinsville; and daughter Maureen of Costa Rica. Very special friends Sr. Kenneth Finnerty, Ed Jenkins and Maureen McCarthy were also family to Nini over many, many years through good and not so good times, they were true friends.
The family thanks LiAsia and the caring staff at The Hearth at Greenpoint for their kindness to Nini. From the kitchen staff to bedside you were great. Also, the staff of Hospice of C.N.Y. again lived up to its' outstanding reputation for compassionate care for the dying. Thanks to all of you.
At Nini's request, there will be no funeral services. A mass celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2014 at 11am in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 309 Buffalo Street, Fulton, NY 13069.
