Nancy A.
Gates
April 9, 2026
With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Nancy A Gates of Redwood, New York. Born in Baldwinsville, New York August 31, 1935, to Ralph and Helen (Coates) Carrington. Nancy left this world on April 9, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving a void in the lives of many. She is predeceased by her parents; sisters Virginia Benedict, Patricia Duger; and brothers Donald, Alan, Robert, David, and Micheal; her husband Gene Gates and children Georgia Davison and Douglas Gates. She is survived by sisters Helen Falardeau, Carol Dorr, and Linda Mashburn all of Baldwinsville and her daughters Elaine Cordova of Riverview, Florida and Karen Moore of Sarasota, Florida, five grandchildren and many great grandchildren, as well as countless nieces and nephews.
She lived with her husband and children in Liverpool, NY where she and Gene built the house their children would grow up in. They also built their summer home in Redwood, NY on Millsite Lake. After Gene retired from working at General Electric in Syracuse, they sold their home in Liverpool and spent summers on Millsite Lake and winters at their home in the Florida Keys in Marathon. Gene and Nancy traveled to many areas of the US but would always remark on their return home that the area of the St. Lawrence River and Millsite Lake was some of the most beautiful scenery they had ever seen. Nancy was active with the Redwood United Methodist Church and was the driving force in securing and opening the church thrift store “Mission Possible”. In 2013, she and her son Douglas began work on building a log home on Millsite Lake; a project that would take 7 long years.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Nancy may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
