IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
Keenan
January 3, 1942 – January 22, 2026
With sadness, we announce the death of Mary Ann Keenan on January 22, 2026, at the Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, John Keenan.
She was born January 3,1942, considered Fulton, NY her hometown and made life long friendships there during her high school years. On settling in Syracuse, Mary Ann's vibrant personality attracted a community of friends who will remember and miss her.
She received her BA from Buffalo State University and pursued her PHD in Anthropology at Syracuse University. After her years of service in the Peace Corps in Jamaica, she returned to the Syracuse area where she taught Anthropology at SUNY Oneonta, Onondaga Community College, LeMoyne, and SUNY ESF. She took great interest in her students and colleagues, and each semester she would invite her students to her home for "Artifacts Night." She was a long time member of the St. Thomas More Foundation Board which supports the Catholic Center at Syracuse University. Donations to this organization in her memory would be appreciated.
Mary Ann will be remembered at mass at St. Thomas More Chapel, 110 Walnut Place, Syracuse NY 13210 on Sunday, February 15th at 10:30 am. Family and friends are welcome.
