Obituary

Marlene Engeldrum passed away peacefully on July 8 at the Syracuse Home.  She is predeceased by her son Eric and her parents Anton and Katarina Sass.  She was born in Austria in 1943 and emigrated to the United States in 1951.  She was a 1974 graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and finished her career in accounting for the Syracuse University School of Law in 2004.

Marlene loved traveling and was always seeking the sun and the heat. Marlene was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain.  She had an extensive knowledge of wine and spirits which she used to serve on the McHarrie Towne Tenant's Association, Happy Hour Team.  She was an avid bridge player all her life and found places to play wherever she lived.  She loved music of all kinds and sought out live concerts every year.  She will be remembered by many singing to her iPod in the McHarrie Towne gym.

Wherever she was, she shared her gift of positivity and friendliness, and could most often be found in the center of the laughter. Her kind loving spirit will be missed by her friends and the Magari family that "adopted" her.  A private burial ceremony will be held in Connecticut.  Donations in Marlene's memory can be made to the places she loved.
