IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion C.
Grabowski
January 28, 1936 – November 18, 2025
It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marion Grabowski, 89, of Lakeland, NY, who left this world peacefully on the morning of November 18th, 2025.
Born on January 28, 1936, with a grace and elegance that stayed with her throughout her life, Marion was affectionately known as the "Jackie-O" of her community for the way she carried herself: poised, kind, and effortlessly classy. She had impeccable style, always with her gold jewelry, and polished presence no matter the occasion. She was a proud Catholic, devoted to her faith.
A talented, master seamstress, Marion poured her skill into her work at her family business, Berndt-Michels Dry Cleaners in Baldwinsville, NY, which she owned and operated with her husband, and daughters from 1972 until her retirement in 2012. Her meticulous craftsmanship and warm presence left a lasting impression on countless customers. She was quoted saying "We work hard to do a good job, our customers count on us, and we try to never let them down!" She was even honored by the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce as the Business Person of the Year, a prestigious award and testament to her dedication.
Marion had a lifelong love for animals, especially her favorite Scottish Terriers: Max, Luci, Barney and Luci II, who were always spoiled with lots of treats!
Marion is predeceased by her parents, Martha and Leopold Surowicz, her husband of 22 years, John Grabowski, and her siblings John Surowicz, Stanley Surowicz, Helen McLaughlin, Ann "Angie" Williams, and Martha Bobik. She is survived by her brother Henry "Hank" Surowicz, 101 years old! She was the devoted mother to Robin Grabowski, Terry Grabowski, and Tracy (Mark) Gummer; the adored grandmother of Nikki Jon (Carmen) Guiliano, and Carly Gummer; and the proud great-grandmother of Lina Jon and Kaia Guiliano, who she spoiled endlessly and loved beyond measure.
To her family, Marion was the heart of everything. She made every holiday magical with her energy, warmth, and her legendary cheesecake - always requested and devoured - now a family tradition. She created a home where everyone felt welcomed, cared for, and nourished in every sense of the word. Her granddaughters and great-granddaughters will especially remember the way she delighted in treating them, stocking her oven with cookies, chips, and candies just for them (and the neighbors too)! Marion believed in making life sweet, both literally and figuratively, and she lived by that philosophy.
Marion will be remembered for her unmatched ability to brighten any room simply by walking into it. Her beautiful smile was infectious, and her tight hugs could cure anything. Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Marion's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all who loved her throughout her life.
A Mass in her honor will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Baldwinsville, NY, followed by a burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Geddes, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane CNY, on Taft Rd.
