Lorraine passed away at home on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, comforted by family members at her side.

Lorraine was a native of Syracuse and attended vocational school. In 1958, she married Leo R. McCarthy, Jr., a resident of Lakeland.  Leo and Lorraine moved to Cato in 1969 before relocating to Baldwinsville in 1986, where they resided for the past 37 years. Lorraine worked at the Cato-Meridian Middle School as a teacher's aide and secretary. During her tenure at the Cato school district, Lorraine became the majorette instructor for the marching band.  In addition to being a loving wife, mother and (great) grandmother, Lorraine was very involved with local social and not-for-profit organizations. She was a former President of the CNY Chapter of the Lupus Foundation; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States; and an active member of the Civic Social Club of Greater Syracuse. On top of her volunteer work, Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her monthly breakfast with the VO Girls. She was also a member of the local Red Hat Society and enjoyed participating in their events.

Lorraine is predeceased by her parents Peter and Stella (Weirzbicki) Maholick, her siblings Henry Maholick, Leo Maholick and Delores Sakowski and her granddaughter, Vanessa McCarthy.

She is survived by David Maholick (Terrie Robinson) of Driftwood, TX, Leslie Arcuri (Anthony Arcuri) of Charlottesville, VA, and Leon McCarthy (Doreen Pier) of Baldwinsville, NY.  Lorraine leaves 5 loving grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4 pm, Wednesday May 10, at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 4:30 pm, at St. Mary's Church 47 Syracuse St., Baldwinsville, followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
