Leila Smith Bates, 92, of Baldwinsville died peacefully Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at her home after a short illness. A life long resident of Baldwinsville, she was formerly employed as a receptionist at Morris Pumps. Leila was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 218. She volunteered at Canton Woods Senior Center and Meal on Wheels. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter C. Bates in 1990.

Survivors: a daughter, Helen Ann (Joseph) Kerniski; grandchildren, John (Cher Brown) Kerniski, Susan (Bruce) Allen, and Jane Kerniski; great-grandchildren, Michael John Kerniski and Alex Joseph Allen and a brother, Reynold W. (Mary) Smith all of Baldwinsville and two nephews.

Services: 10:00am Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Grace Episcopal Church, 110 Oswego Road, Baldwinsville,. Burial in Grace Church Memorial Garden. There will be no calling hours.
