Jo Anselment passed away peacefully on August 13th, surrounded by her children. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, devotion to family and quiet commitment to her community. Jo was born in Melrose, New York, and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School in Troy, New York. She worked at International Harvester in Albany and later in the Baldwinsville school district, then the District Attorney's Office of Onondaga County.
Jo married Al Anselment and they moved to Baldwinsville, New York, which became their forever home. Together, Jo and Al built a life filled with family, adventure, and lasting memories. Jo and Al enjoyed traveling, especially family road trips across the country, exploring National Parks, camping, and hiking at Lake George and other favorite local places. In retirement, they continued their love of travel with memorable trips to Alaska and Hawaii.
Jo was an avid gardener and a longtime member of the Baldwinsville Garden Club. She also believed deeply in giving back to her community. Over the years, she volunteered at St. Mary's Church, drove for the Volunteer Center and supported the Girl Scouts and 4-H. Above all, Jo was devoted to her family. Predeceased by her husband Al, she is survived by her four children: Pat Kittles of Springfield, OH, Mike (Debbie) Anselment of Baldwinsville, NY, Nancy (Michael) Bradshaw of Saratoga Springs, NY and Sandra (John) Horn of Westwood, MA.
She was a cherished grandmother to James, Kelby, Brittany, Alexander, Julia, Addison, Sienna, Corbin and great-grandmother to Owen. As one of five children, Jo was also aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Jo leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity and service. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Calling hours will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street, Baldwinsville. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home.
Donations in Jo's memory may be made to the Female Charitable Society Inc. of Baldwinsville, NY.
