It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph John Gaughan who peacefully entered his heavenly home on April 29, 2025.
Joe was born in Scranton, PA in 1942, graduated from St. Ann's High School, joined the Navy and married his high school sweetheart. Joe and Mary have been married for 62 years. One of his favorite joys was joining all of his family in their special fishing retreat in Canada each year. This tradition has been ongoing for over 50 years. In his retirement years he especially enjoyed planning the annual vacation with his grandchildren which he entitled "Kid's Rule Week" He was preceded in death by his father, John Gaughan, his mother, Susan Esasky Gaughan, and brother Jack Gaughan, all of Scranton, PA. He is survived by his wife, Mary Gaughan of Baldwinsville, NY, his brother, Robert Gaughan (Kim) of Scranton, PA, Sister-in-law, Marie Burke (Robert) of Indianapolis, IN. His children, Donna Locker (Tim) of Northern KY, Joseph Gaughan (Karen) of Leland, NC, and John Gaughan (Amanda) of Baldwinsville, NY. Nine grand children, two great-grand children and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4-7 PM at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St. Mary's Church, 47 Syracuse St., Baldwinsville, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
