IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph
Addario
March 19, 1933 – November 3, 2023
Joseph Addario died Friday, November 3, 2023. He was born in Gorham, NH at home in a community known as "Cascade Flats" on March 19, 1933 to Italian immigrants Constantino and Donetta Addario. After graduating high school, Joe enlisted in the army and fought in the Korean War in 1953 with the US Army Second Infantry Division, receiving two Bronze Stars for his service in the Boomerang Sector until the cease fire on July 27th, 1953.
After the war, he went to college and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. While in college, he met his future wife Sara Tremblay. They were married in 1964 and shortly thereafter he began a career in teaching. He taught junior high English in Claremont, NH where he lived for more than 50 years. At the age of 87 he became a published author - publishing "Rose of the Flats" - a historical fiction based in part on his childhood in New Hampshire and his time in the Korean War.
In 2021 Joe transitioned to Brookdale Assisted Living in Liverpool, NY to be closer to his son and grandchildren. He lived there for nearly two years, making many new friends and, of course, sharing his book with nearly every staff member!
Joe is predeceased by his wife Sara, his brother Donald and his brother Bob. He is survived by his brother Reynold, his sister Gloria, his son Mike and his two grandchildren - Brandon and Lauren - and numerous other cousins and family members.
Calling hours will be held Friday, November 10 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Funeral services and burial will be held at a later time in New Hampshire.
