Obituary

John A. Whiteley, 89, of Downer Street, Baldwinsville, died Sunday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Pompey, he lived in Baldwinsville since 1950. He retired in 1973 from Barrett Division of Allied Chemical Corp. and formerly worked for the Onondaga County Highway Department and Penn-Can Road Materials. He was a charter member of Hillview Community Baptist Church, Baldwinsville, and a member of American Legion Vernice Suttle Post 113, Baldwinsville, Sampson World War II Navy Veterans and Tully Area Historical Society. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors: His wife of 62 years, the former Ruth P. Millard; a son, Duane D. of New York City; a sister, Winifred J. Merle of East Syracuse; a granddaughter; a great-grandson.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillview Community Baptist Church. Burial, Fayetteville Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
