John P. Simek, 94, formerly of Baldwinsville, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015. He was born on September 3, 1920 in Johnstown, NY, the son of the late Edward and Antonia Polacek Simek. John retired from Edward Joy Lighting Company. He served in WW II from 1942 to 1945. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, hunting, and especially fishing at the summer cottage on Great Sacandaga Lake.

John was predeceased by his wife Anna K. Simek who passed away on December 6, 2013 also his brothers, Tony Simek, Stephen Simek, and sister Velma Simek.

John is survived by son, Joseph (JoAnn) Simek of Syracuse; daughter, Rosemary (John) Backenstross of Fayetteville; two special grandsons, Casey and Jeremy Simek of Syracuse;; a brother Edward Simek; sisters Marge Henry, Anne Kollar, Mary Fiorito all of Johnstown, and Bert Cincotta of Boston, MA; several nieces and nephews.

Services: 11:00 am Thursday, Janauary 15, 2015, at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville. Burial in Riverview Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-7pm Wednesday, January 14, 2015. at the funeral home, 93 Downer Street.
