John H. McFall, 73, died November 4, 2009 at the Syracuse Home with his family by his side. He was born in Brooklyn, the only child of John B. and Edith H. McFall. John graduated from Rumson High School in Rumson, NJ and received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Syracuse University. John began his career in Philadelphia, PA in the broadcast industry. Job opportunity brought him to Syracuse and he settled in Baldwinsville in 1966. He worked in advertising and in distribution. For the last 20 years John was a self-employed picture framer. John became very involved in his adopted Community. Soon after his arrival, he introduced musical productions to the Baldwinsville Theatre Guild. Over the next 30+ years he directed and starred in numerous BTG productions. John was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and as Warden. John was a charter member of the Celebrate Baldwinsville Committee and served on the Oktoberfest Committee for many years. John was a member of the Baldwinsville Planning Board until his resignation in 2009. Over the last seven years of his life, John devoted his energies toward the establishment of a Baldwinsville Center for the Arts. In recognition of his many contributions to his community, the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce named him their Man of the Year for 2002.
John is survived by his wife of 47 years Patricia along with their children John S. McFall of Baldwinsville; Laura (Lee) Starr of Penfield; and Carrie (David) Weaver of Baldwinsville; his grandchildren Sam and Mary Starr and Katie and Owen Weaver; sister-in-law Janet (Harold) Garman of Syracuse and brother-in-law Alan (Marsha) Mack of Atlanta, GA along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in John's memory be made to The Baldwinsville Center for the Arts, PO Box 174, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
The family will greet friends Friday, November 13, 2-8 pm at their home, 18 Elizabeth St, Baldwinsville, NY. A celebration of John's life will be held Saturday, November 14, at 10 am at Grace Episcopal Church, 110 Oswego Street in Baldwinsville.
