John Joseph McCarthy, 77, of Baldwinsville passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Beverly Hills, CA. John graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, served in the Navy aboard the USS Midway, and retired from Crucible Materials Corp. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, reading, exercising with friends at the gym, playing cards and working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Survivors: his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann; five children, Maureen of Santa Monica, CA, Timothy of Knoxville, TN, Lynne Files and Geri Lea of Liverpool, NY, and Mary Kay of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren, Sean Marzug-McCarthy, Carinna, Tyler and Matthew Files; and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Alessi of Las Vegas, NV and Mrs. Patricia Cummings of Pittsburgh, PA.
