Obituary

John Henry Lockwood, 87, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away on July 5, 2026 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Granville, NY, to the late Charles and Lucille Lockwood. A resident of Baldwinsville, NY for over 50 years, he dedicated his professional life to the field of electrical engineering, notably contributing to the manufacturing industry as Technical Director at Microwave Filter. His service to his country was marked by his time in the Navy, where he enlisted on October 17, 1955 and was honorably discharged on October 16, 1961.

John was a man of remarkable curiosity and ingenuity, known for his ability to fix anything that came his way. From a young age, he displayed a passion for understanding how things worked, famously taking apart his parents' first television and successfully reassembling it. His love for engineering was reflected in his many hobbies, including building and flying radio-controlled airplanes and spending endless hours in his workshop. He delighted in visiting flea markets to rescue broken radios, restoring them to working order and relishing each triumph.

Above all, John cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marie Lockwood of Baldwinsville, NY, and their children: Teresa Lockwood of Baldwinsville, NY, Melinda (Tom) Taylor of Phoenix, NY, Andrea (James) Connolly of Suffield, CT and Michael (Tanya) Lockwood of Baldwinsville, NY. Along with their grandchildren : Derrick and Justin Taylor, Peter and Lindsey Connolly, and Calleigh and Molly Lockwood. John's legacy will be remembered not only for his engineering skills but for his unwavering love and devotion as a husband, father, and grandfather.
