John C. Hartner, 84, of Syracuse passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Crossings Nursing & Rehabilitaion Centre. He was born in Philadelphia., PA and has lived in the Syracuse area the past 50 years. John retired in 2008 from Tarco Steel of Binghamton where he was employed for many years. He was an Army veteran of WW II. A loving husband, father and grandfather, John was fond of helping stray animals and loved a good joke.

Survivors: his wife of 54 years, Joan E. Hartner; his children, Kathryn (Richard) Sapp of Baldwinsville and Michael (Kim) Hartner of Westmoreland, NY and his grandchildren Nicole and Dan Hartner.

Calling hours are 4-7pm Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Burial in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
