John W. Bourne, 84, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Florida on Sunday, September 9, 2007. In his retirement, Mr. Bourne enjoyed golfing and fishing, but mostly enjoyed making wooden toys for the children in the West Palm Head Start Program. He was a member of the Boynton Beach Coast Guard Auxillary where he taught boating safety classes and did boat inspections on weekends. He retired from the Auxillary as Commander of the Flotilla. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army in Guadalcanal.
His son, John L. Bourne predeceased him in April.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Berenice C. (Coyle) Bourne; six children, Marianne Carbone, Donna Washburne, Sister Jane Bourne, Patricia Bishop, Michael Bourne and Susan Ford; 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and his brother, Richard C. Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to Christ the King Retreat House, 500 Brookford Rd., Syracuse or the Franciscan Sisters Retirement Fund, 2500 Grant Blvd., Syracuse.
