Joan Marie (Borrow) Perkins, 92, of Baldwinsville, passed away April 8th.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph M. Borrow and Carolyn E. (Kraft) Borrow, and was born in New Rochelle, NY on December 22, 1933.

Joan having moved to Baldwinsville in 1940, was a 1952 graduate of Baldwinsville Central School. She married Richard H. Perkins on November 15, 1958, at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Baldwinsville. They were married 56 years.

She was a secretary for the Baldwinsville Central School system for 28 years before retiring in 1997.

Joan was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Baldwinsville where she taught religious education, was a volunteer worker in main office of school, and was involved with cleaning of the church Altar.

Joan also spent many years tracing her family roots in genealogy research spanning a global area involving England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, and Canada.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Richard and sister Marilyn.

She is survived by her son, William (Cathy) and daughter, Mary-Beth Valentine; four grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) and Corey (Mel)Perkins and Nathan (Carley)and Derek Valentine, three great grandchildren Ava, Ariya and Cade Perkins ; two sisters, Catherine Barnell and Margaret (Richard) Dunham; brother, Joseph (Chris) Borrow; and several nieces and nephews.

Joan greatly enjoyed time with her family and attended many sports events in which her grandson's participated.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 14, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, 47 Syracuse St., Baldwinsville. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Any contributions can be made to the Baldwinsville Fire Department.
