Obituary

Jo-ann Francis Lanty, 75, of East Syracuse, passed away on November 6, 2026. She was born on July 27, 1951, in Oneonta, NY.

Jo-ann was a strong-willed, independent woman with a generous heart. She worked for many years as a Developmental Assistant with CNY DSO, where she dedicated herself to helping others. She never sought recognition for her kindness, finding satisfaction simply in making a difference in the lives of those around her.

Jo-ann enjoyed spending time with her beloved dogs, Harley, Taz, and Buddy. She also loved riding motorcycles with her husband, George, sharing many adventures together over the years. Their 30 years together were filled with memories, love, and plenty of good-natured humor. George would be the first to tell you that Jo-ann could be a "pain in the rear end," but he wouldn't have traded their years together for anything.

Above all, Jo-ann will be remembered for her independence, determination, and willingness to help others.

Jo-ann is survived by her husband of 30 years, George; her six children, Lisa Mikels, Danielle Mossow, David Goldthwait, Teresa Goldthwait, Jamie Lanty, and Pamela Lanty; her sister, Sandy Wilson; 22 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Doris Wilson; two sisters; a brother; a grandchild, Nathan Goldthwait; and her son, Russell Goldthwait, whose loss deeply affected her and whose memory she carried with her throughout her life.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 13, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street, Baldwinsville. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
