Jean M. Wicks, 84, formerly of Bluefield Manor and Westminster Manor, Auburn, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at the Finger Lakes Center for Living. Jean was born February 12, 1920 in Beaver Falls, Pa, the daughter of Lewis and Lydia McCaughtry. She graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls in 1941, and married Parke W. Wicks in December 1941. She taught high school Health and Science for several years, and was a homemaker. She resided in Dewitt and Cazenovia, prior to moving to Auburn in 2000. Jean was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Auburn, and was an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Cazenovia. She was an active volunteer at the Cazenovia Library and a former trustee of Cazenovia College. Jean was predeceased by her husband Parke in 1994, and her son Peter in 1986.
She is survived by a son Jeffrey (Suzanne) of N. Syracuse, a daughter Jill (Mark) Fandrich of Auburn, a daughter-in-law Suse of Franklin, Ma; seven grandchildren, Heather (Robert) Scott of N. Syracuse, Jeffrey (Keliane) Wicks of Syracuse, Maris Wicks of Providence, RI, Leslie Wicks of Franklin, Ma, Peggy, Victor and Michael Fandrich of Auburn; five great grandchildren, and a brother-in-law Philip Wicks.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 2, at 4pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 17 William St, Auburn, NY with the Rev. Philip Windsor presiding. The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Memorial Fund, 17 William St, Auburn, NY 13021 or to the First Presbyterian Church, 27 Albany St, Cazenovia, NY 13035.
