Obituary

Jean Ecker Wells, 70, of McKarrie Street, Baldwinsville, died Wednesday at home. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Baldwinsville most of her life. She was a 1948 graduate of Baldwinsville High School. She was bookkeeper for 19 years for the town of VanBuren. She was mayor of Baldwinsville from 1989 to 1995 and was village trustee from 1984 to 1989. She was Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce 1999 Woman of the Year for her life-time civic involvement. She was a 12-year member of Baldwinsville Rotary Club and a past chairwoman and member of the advisory board of directors for Vera House North. Her husband, Burrill E. Jr., died in 1980.

Survivors: Four daughters, Karen Molin of Greenville, Miss., Cynthia Wells of Liverpool, Melinda Wells-Reynolds of Syracuse and Rebecca Denbleyker of Pennellville; a son, Burrill E. III of Baldwinsville; three brothers, Robert A. Ecker and John E. Ecker of Baldwinsville, and James F. Ecker of San Leandro, Calif.; six grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Sunday at Falardeau Funeral Home. Spring burial, Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
