Jay Alan Johnston, 40, of South Bend, Wash., died Saturday from kidney complications. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Phoenix most of his life and graduated from Phoenix Central School in 1979. He was a machinist at Arlington Machine & Welding in Arlington, Wash., and worked at Phoenix Gauge in Phoenix.

Survivors: His wife, the former Angela Kelso; a daughter, Jaymie Johnston of Fulton; a son, Andrew of Fulton; his parents, Alan and Joy Walters Johnston of Phoenix; two brothers, Lee of Syracuse and Dale of Phoenix.

Services: Will be announced. Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville, has arrangements.
