Janice F. (Van Nostrand) Thomas passed away peacefully at Elderwood with her family by her side on November 17, 2025.  She was 94 years old.

Janice was born on July 27, 1931, to the late Louis & Harriett Van Nostrand.  She was educated in the Baldwinsville schools and upon graduation, was a switchboard operator at New York Telephone.  On October 11, 1952, she married the love of her life, Fred Thomas.  They shared 69 years of marriage until Fred's passing in 2021.

Janice loved ice skating and glided with the Golden Skaters until she was in her 80's.  Jan was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma & great grandma. She was an excellent baker, candy maker, cook and chief of the kitchen for all family gatherings.  The place that made her happiest, besides being with her family, was any time she could spend at her camp on Raquette Lake.  It was her special place, and nothing was better than having her family join her there.

Janice was predeceased by her husband Fred; brothers, Donald and Gordon; sisters, Doris Virginia, Esther Haas, Edna Donohue; and son-in-law, David Wall.  She will be missed and is survived by her daughter, Martha (David) Parker; her son, Phil (Cindy) Thomas; her grandson, Zakariah Ispahani; and her great-grandson, Luca Ispahani; along with several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street, Baldwinsville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. William's on Long Point, PO Box 71, Raquette Lake, NY 13436 in memory of Janice Thomas.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Elderwood, 2nd floor west wing for the love and care they provided Janice in her later years.
