Obituary

Janet H. Ryder, passed away May 9, 2023. She was born March 7,1926 in Binghamton, NY, the oldest daughter of Thomas Francis and Gertrude Hogan. She married George Edward Ryder in 1949 and they were married for forty-nine years, raising their three daughters in Vestal, NY.

She is survived by her three daughters, Karen Hunter (Herb) of Georgia,  Diane Martinez of Virginia and Kathleen Rice (Michael) of New York, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Marilynn Sinchak (Jack) of Connecticut and Nancy Tierney of California, sister in law Joy Ryder of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Janet is predeceased by her husband, George and infant son, her sister Marjorie and her parents.

Janet graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1945 and was a sorority member. She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church where she was a member of the Altar Society. Janet enjoyed traveling, reading current best sellers, knitting and cooking. She enjoyed trips to NYC and Broadway. Janet was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed all things Irish. She never missed a good time and lived life to its fullest.

There will be a funeral Mass at St. Mary's of the Assumption in Baldwinsville, NY on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 9:30 AM. Burial will be 12:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City following the Mass.
