James L.
Vaughan
December 14, 1918 – January 7, 2004
James L. Vaughan, 85, of Baldwinsville, formerly of Morrisville, NY and Bellport, Long Island, quietly went to his Lord on January 7th from Syracuse Home. Born in Clarkson, he was the yougest of five children of John and Sarah Vaughan. After graduating from Brockport High and Normal Schools, he completed his BA in Education from Brockport State College in 1948. He earned his Masters Degree in Education at Hofstra University in Long Island. A staff sergeant in the US Army Air Corps, Jim served in the Pacific Theater during WW II. Beginning his teaching career in Greece, NY in 1941, he retired from teaching in Bellport in 1975, after 29 years. While living in Bellport, Jim was a member of the Bellport Methodist Church, a life member of the Bellport Fire Department, and a village trustee for 12 years. He was also mayor there from 1973 - 1977. Jim was a Rotarian for many years and was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and bowler.
Survivors: his wife of 56 years, the former Jane Sutliff; a daughter Jeanette (and John) Fedkiw of Baldwinsville; two sons, James E. and Jeffrey L. (and Gene) both of Bellport; four grandchildren, Jonathan (and Jessi) Fedkiw of Phoenix, AZ, Jane Fedkiw of Liverpool, James and Joel Fedkiw of Baldwinsville and a great-grandaughter, Kara of Phoenix, AZ.
Services: 2:00pm Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville. Spring burial, Riverview Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-8pm Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the funeral home, 93 Downer Street.
